Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by today. I’m excited to share this 6″ x 6″ mixed media birthday card I created for my best friend, Kim. I also plan to enter it in both of this week’s Simon Says Stamp challenges. Monday’s challenge is Butterfly Beauty, and Wednesday’s challenge is entitled Make It Girlie. Yay! I think this card fits both of those challenges perfectly. Don’t you?

There is so much to this card that I think I’ll just discuss some of the highlights and then list out products at the end. Please send me a message if you have any questions.

I have used Tim Holtz Idea-ology Melange Tissue Wrap on several projects lately, and I just love the effect. I think this card is my favorite use of this tissue so far. I added it to both the background paper and the tag. Isn’t the transparent subtleness dreamy?

One thing I wish you could see better is how the tag turned out. I crinkled the tissue first, and then left it pretty wrinkled and gathered when I glued it down. After coloring with distress inks and then using Tim’s Distress Vintage Collage Medium, I decided it was too dark, and so used a Pickett Fence Distress Crayon to soften the brown color. I love how it settled into the crinkles of the tissue paper.

I am addicted to Tim’s Grungeboard paired with Sizzix Bigz dies. The dies cut beautifully through almost anything, and the Grungeboard is thick for lots of added dimension. For this card, I used the Elegant Flourishes die, and painted it with Antique Linen Distress Paint. Next I used Distress Crackle Paint, and then finished it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Another die I can’t stop obsessing over is the Tattered Florals Bigz die. I know! You’ve seen flowers on almost all of my recent projects, and this die has been on the market for a while. I really love how pretty these flowers are when added to projects. FYI – I use a glue gun for a strong, instant bond so that I can mold the petals in exactly the shape I want.
