Hi Everyone! I hope you are well and staying warm in your part of the world. It is sooooo cold here in Ohio, but I’m staying toasty inside and enjoying  Altenew‘s All About Layering 1 class. Today I’m sharing my second layered floral card, and I also experimented with the new metallic shimmer ink sprays and stencil I just ordered. I have to say that I am so pleased with the colors and the way this card turned out. I think it’s perfect for my good friend’s birthday next month.

I began by taping the Watercolor Stripes Stencil over a Neenah cardstock panel, and then poured a little Sea Glass ink spray on the craft mat. I loaded a Clarity stencil brush and gently painted it over the stencil leaving the left upper corner bare. After lifting the stencil, I pointed Dusk ink spray toward the bottom right corner to achieve a fine to medium spray effect over the panel. I wish you could see this in person. It is such a soft, shimmery look. Hopefully I can post an informational video soon with these inks.

Vintage Flowers stamps and dies are another oldie but goodie that I pulled out for this card. The yellow Altenew Crisp Dye Inks (warm sunshine, mango smoothie, buttercream, and sunkissed) are some of my favorites, and I like how they soften as they dry. I think they look nice against the blue shimmer sprays paired with the green foliage. What do you think? The key to success with this set is practice, practice, practice! There is a PDF you can print from the lesson that I placed inside the stamp pocket, and it shows the steps to layering the flowers.

The sentiment is from Halftone Hello and stamped with VersaFine black ink directly onto the stenciled panel. After die cutting all of the flowers and leaves, I trimmed down the panel and taped it onto a heavyweight card base. Then I used foam tape to layer everything and add lots of dimension. Finally, I added Wink of Stella to the flowers and leaves, and placed a few Nuvo Crystal Clear drops for interest.
