You know how sometimes you come across something new and it’s so fabulous that it puts a smile on your face all day long? Or even better? You find something you’ve had for a long time, but shoved it in a closet and forgot about how awesome it was. Then you dust it off and the love affair begins all over again. That’s what this page is all about.
When we purchased our new house last March, we ripped up all of the carpet on the first floor and installed dark hardwood. I know! I know! Many of you are groaning and thinking, “Dummies!” But We knew what we were getting into when we went with the dark, and we love the floors.

However, we have a golden retriever, Riley, and she sheds like crazy. I can finish cleaning, sit down, and a tumbleweed of golden fur will roll out from under something just to land at my feet. In a perfect world, I need to vacuum every single day, but that would leave no time for crafting. So I try to sweep every other day, but it usually happens every third day. I can’t ignore the hair balls piling up along baseboards and in corners any longer than that.
I researched hardwood vacuums for a while and finally chose the Bissell Poweredge Pet Vacuum, because it had over 4,000 reviews on Amazon with over a four star rating. I’ve used it for the last six months and really liked it. It has a beveled front so it goes around corners and moves dirt to the center. This week I needed something to pick up fine, sticky primer powder from sanding kitchen cabinets, and I knew the Bissell wouldn’t do it. So I pulled out the Swiffer Sweep and Vac , and I couldn’t stop when I reached the end of the cabinets. As we waltzed together around the kitchen, I fell in love all over again, and don’t know why I ever thought I needed something else. Now the Bissell’s been exiled to the closet, and my Swiffer is back in charge. Literally.
We are still working on the kitchen, but it’s very close to finished. Check back for the final reveal in the “Projects” page soon.
Thanks again for stopping by!
Erin
