Hi Everyone! I’ve decided to enter my first card challenge, and here is the first of five entries in the Hero Arts Holiday Cardmaking Challenge. I used two of my favorite new items from Hero Arts: The Hand Drawn Snowflakes Bold Prints background stamp and the Joy Stamp and Cut. Combined with lots of glittery paper and tinsel embossing, this card truly makes me joyful!
First, I stamped the background snowflakes on Crafter’s Companion shimmer pearl paper with Versamark and embossed with tinsel silver embossing powder. I cut this and the DCWV glitter paper using Lawn Fawn scalloped die frames. I have wanted a scalloped die set for a long time now, and I finally broke down and ordered this Lawn Fawn set. Isn’t it sooooo pretty? I love the interest it adds.
The Joy sentiment was cut from craft foam and the DCWV glitter paper to add dimension. Also, I used a Copic marker color that matched the paper. I’ve been using this trick on foam backing to help it blend and look more finished than if it were left white. It also helps hide flaws when cutting through difficult papers like this which has a thin plastic film and often does not cut clean.
Finally, I cut a flag from My Favorite Things flag stax using CC shimmer pearl paper, and finished the top edge by using the LF scalloped die. I had to cut the Wishing You Peace, Love & apart to fit them on the flag. The MISTI made perfect placement of the individual words so easy! Love, love, love that thing! I couldn’t help but add another piece of foam behind the flag for added interest.
So…Doesn’t all of this sparkliness inspire you to get your craft on with Hero Arts? I hope so! Join me in their challenge. I can’t wait to see what you create.
Thanks for stopping by!
Erin
