Hello, Love

Hi Everyone! Guess what came in the mail yesterday? The new Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit! And I am in L-O-V-E. I think there’s even more jam-packed into this kit than ever before: Two different kinds of stickers; a hearts die; three styles of sequins; stamps; and super-cute papers. It is my favorite time of the month!

So here is my first card from the kit. Pretty simple, yet adorable. Don’t you think? Usually, I begin by matching papers according to colors and patterns. I will be very honest and admit that I am not the best at selecting papers. Also, the layout often gives me fits. If you haven’t noticed, I tend to go for the black card base. That’s the simple part for me, but I draw lots of inspiration from others. I adore the two cards posted by Wanda Guess on the SSS February gallery. She uses several papers and the way she puts them together is magical. I did see a video last year in which the stamper said she tries to match a small pattern, words, and a larger design. I tend to lean on that premise for right now. Can you see this in my card? Love the graphic hearts paper!

I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Rectangle dies for the polka dot panel, and My Favorite Things’ Stitched Flag Stax for the flags. For dimension, I added a foam panel behind the polka dots paper.

I cut the “beautiful” from the “Hello,” stamp, and used VersaFine ink to add it to the card. Then I used a Lawn Fawn’s “Love” die from last year, and cut it from red sticky-back craft foam. I decided that the “Hello,” sentiment was too narrow, and I used Faber-Castell black pens to thicken the letters. I added the foam sentiment, and two stickers from the kit. Finally, I added Glossy Accents to the “love” sentiment for more dimension.

There you have it! So simple. So cute. Do you have your kit yet? I can’t wait to see all the adorable creations on the SSS gallery. Thanks again for stopping by! Love and crafty hugs!
