Anemones Cards

Hi Everyone! I hope you are well, and staying warm if you live in the eastern United States. Thankfully, we didn’t get any snow last week, but I know many of you did. It very much still feels like winter in Ohio though.

So sorry, but these pictures are not the best for this post. The lighting is not great in this weather, and I was trying to hurry. The cards are so much prettier than these pictures show:(

I created a card using WPlus9 Watercolored Anemones stamps last month for my niece’s birthday, but I didn’t have time to photograph it before it had to be mailed. It was so pretty that I wanted to recreate it (along with three others) to share with you.

Have you seen Yana Smakula‘s cards? They are gorgeous and often inspire me to try a new technique or stamp set. She created a card using the watercolored anemones along with the Valentine Wishes stamp set, and I purchased both stamp sets that very day! (Here are the Valentine cards I created using the wishes stamp set.)

The warm whispers of spring make me think of purple and yellow violas, and that color combination was the inspiration for these cards. I used my favorite Altenew Crisp Inks to create soft, layered effects. The sentiments are WPlus9 That Is All, Strictly Sentiments 5, and Hand Lettered Thanks sets stamped with black VersaFine and embossed with clear powder for dimension and shine. I love the added interest created with the raised die cut!

I used some new Simon Says Stamp Glimmer cardstock for the background panel layered over black SSS heavy cardstock with foam for dimension. This new cardstock is matte on the back and has a soft, shimmery sheen with linen-like texture on the front.

There is a lot of reflection in this pic, but I was trying to help show the glimmer and texture of this SSS cardstock.

Sooooooo pretty! I am definitely going to need more soon, because this will probably be my new go-to.

Can you see the small opal dots?

Finally, I’ve noticed recently that Yana will use both liquid crystal drops along with sequins or other embellishment. I don’t know why it never occurred to me before, but it is such a pretty effect. I tried that technique on these cards too. I used Pretty Pink Posh sequins or clear droplets on the cards combined with Viva Paper Pen Opal for added pearly drops. What do you think? I think I need a little more practice (and I truly need more Nuvo Crystal Drops). I struggle with where to place embellishments. Yana makes it look so easy, but always has a beautiful result!

So there you have it. Do you adore WPlus9 stamps as much as I do? Have you seen Dawn’s latest release with petunias? So pretty! Thanks for stopping by today. Love and crafty hugs!

    1. LOL! It has been for me lately. My husband bought a new lens for my camera at Christmas, and it helps blur the background. I love it, but Ohio lighting in winter is the worst! Also, I was hurrying and didn’t want to take time to fiddle with it. Unfortunately I can’t get the computer editing to compensate for my laziness! Thank you so much for leaving a nice comment!
