Hi Everyone! Today I’m sharing a special birthday card I made for my Mother-in-law using a gorgeous new background stamp from The Stamp Market, Marbled Background, with their Papillon layered stamp set. As soon as I saw this background stamp, I was running for my purse to grab the credit card and order it before it sold out! I am in love with this stamp!

I played around with different techniques, and decided my favorite look was created on the MISTI and Perfect Pearls. Background stamps are often difficult to stamp solidly due to their size, and I find that it takes me a couple of times to get it inked well. The MISTI is perfect for this in that everything aligns perfectly for repeated stamping. I used VersaMark ink, stamped two times, and then brushed silver Perfect Pearls over the ink until it was well covered. Finally, I brushed away the excess, and was left with a gorgeous marbled background.
The MISTI always is my go-to tool for layered stamps like this Papillon. Although it looks pretty simple in detail, the wings still need to be stamped perfectly to look nice. Here I used my favorite inks, Altenew Crisp Inks, for both butterflies. After stamping, I fussy cut each butterfly from the cardstock.
The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp, Thoughtful Messages, and is hands-down my most-used sentiment set currently. The tag is from My Favorite Things Pierced die set, stamped and heat embossed in silver, embellished with Nuvo Crystal Clear drops , and finished with Lawn Fawn twine.
Finally, I used Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle dies, and layered with a teal cardstock panel over a Neenah card base. I finished the butterfly by outlining the edges with a black Copic marker, covered it with Wink of Stella for glittery dimension, adhered to the card with foam dots, and finished with a covered wire for its antennae.
There you have it! What do you think? Have you seen this marbled background stamp from The Stamp Market? It is a must-have I think! Love and crafty hugs to you all!
