Whimsy July Paper Door

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to the craft room! Today I’m sharing a card I created using the Whimsy July Paper Door card kit. Have you seen this yet? Oh…my…goodness! These kits always are packed with goodies, and this month’s is full of pretty things: Beaucoup Bouquet floral stamps with matching dies, Distress Inks, a paintbrush, white Ranger embossing powder, and lots of pretty papers. (You can see my post for last month’s kit HERE.)

I created this card for my Mom’s birthday, and I think it turned out so pretty!  This Whimsy Shaker Maker Combo Die Set allows you to create a double shaker with the square and then the circle added to the middle. How fun is that?

Distress Oxide ink colors used: picked raspberry, seedless preserves, faded jeans, worn lipstick, wilted violet, squeezed lemonade, abandoned coral, lucky clover, twisted citron.

I began by smooshing Distress Oxide inks onto the craft mat, sprayed generously with water, and dabbed Bristol smooth paper onto the ink. Then dried with the heat tool, and repeated until I was pleased with the outcome. The nice thing about Oxide inks is that they layer over themselves without becoming “muddy”! Next I dribbled and spritzed water over the ink, dabbed the excess, and dried it completely. After insuring that the paper was completely dry, I used the white embossing powder from the kit with VersaMark ink to stamp and heat emboss the flowers and leaves. TIP: Oxides are very “wet” inks and the paper must be totally dry before embossing, or it sticks everywhere!

Isn’t that glittery background paper so pretty? Yup, that came in the kit!

The rest was fairly simple using the combo dies. I just die cut the florals and all of the shaker cardstock pieces. Then added acetate, foam, and sequins with beads for the shakers. TIP: Don’t forget to heat emboss your sentiment before completing the circle shaker (like I did the first time).

I used foam tape to pop and layer the flowers for even more dimension. I finished the card by adding yellow cardstock from the kit edged with abandoned coral ink inside for the Shine Bright birthday sentiment. Then added a couple fore die cut flowers with leaves. Finally, I created a custom envelope with the We R Memory Keepers envelope punch board.

So there it is. What do you think? Aren’t those flowers so pretty? I love how they turned out! Thanks again for joining me in the craft room. I can’t wait to see everything you create with this super-cute card kit. Love and crafty hugs!
