Hi Everyone! Thanks for joining me again in the craft room! It has been a crazy few weeks in the Thompson household. Our oldest son is a senior, and I really never imagined how busy this fall season would be for all of us. College applications (with acceptances already – Yay!), drum major in marching band, Grand National competition in Indianapolis this weekend, and our younger son in soccer and tennis…too much excitement! Now you understand why I have been MIA lately.
Today I’m sharing a card I created for Whimsy Stamps new November release, and I have to say that the release is a good one! Have you seen all of the cute new items for the holidays? You can see everything HERE. I used the new Snow Dangle Stencil along with last year’s Snow Flurry stamps and dies for this pretty card with Nuvo Glimmer Paste and Distress Oxide Inks.
I first created the background by blending shaded lilac, wilted violet, faded jeans, and chipped sapphire Distress Oxide Inks onto Canson watercolor paper. Next, I dribbled, spritzed, and blotted water droplets on the panel. (HINT: I often repeat this process two or three times to achieve a greater depth of color and interest!)
After the background dried completely, I taped off the trees on the lower half of the stencil and thickly spread Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone through the dangling snowflakes. Then I set it aside to dry while I stamped and heat embossed the snowflakes and sentiment on vellum.
After the background was completely dry, I cut a background panel from Tim Holtz metallic cardstock (my new favorite for the holidays!), layered the inked background over it with some foam tape for dimension, and adhered it all to an A2 card base. I used a Straight Edger die to create a stitched vellum strip for my snow sentiment, added it onto the card with the vellum embossed snowflakes, and added the fussy cut ‘place like home’ sentiment. The final touch was to add some Little Things From Lucy jewels, and tah-dah!
So what do you think? Have you been working on all of your holiday paper crafts? This is my favorite time of year, and all of my favorite craft stamps and supplies are released! I can’t wait to see all of your creations too! Love and crafty hugs!
Erin
