Dash Away Christmas Card

Hi Everyone, and welcome back! I hope you are well and enjoying the holiday season. I cannot believe that it is already here, and that 2018 soon will be in the past! I have been busy in the craftroom, and will have many cards and tags to share over the next couple of weeks. Today I have a card featuring Whimsy Stamps Dash Away stamp set with a Nuvo Gilding Flake Peekaboo 2 window frame.

I used blue Copics to color the night sky around each stamped image, but what do you do when you can’t find matching cardstock? You just color your own with the same colors you used in the windows! Ta-dah!!

I created the window by first taping Scor Tape onto Neenah cardstock, and then removed  the sticky backing. Next I gently tapped Nuvo Gold Gilding Flakes onto the taped cardstock. It helps to take a stiff flat paintbrush and flatten the flakes to cover the entire piece. Finally, brush all of the excess flakes from the cardstock, and burnish the piece. Trust me; this is messy, but creates an oh-so gorgeous result!

After putting the card together, I added the stamped and fussy cut Santa and reindeer. I’m not sure that I love this added image, but I wanted it to finish the scene. If I re-created this card, I might stamp Santa on acetate with Staz On and see how that looks.

What do you think? Have you tried Nuvo Gilding Flakes? I love, love, love the final look with this product! I can’t wait to see what you create in the coming weeks. Love and crafty hugs!
